A stunning fin perfect Rainbow caught in March.

The last couple of months Scotland has been battered with heavy rain, wind and snow but if you put the time in you can normally get a few good results. So this winter I have been mainly concentrating on the Grayling with a few trips for the Rainbow Trout. Its not been easy but I have had some lovely fish.

Winter Grayling.

If you fancy a trip over the winter its important to be realistic its going to be cold, wet and probably difficult but your not going to catch the fish from your hotel room. Everything on my trips is planned to the finest detail and I always have a plan B. So if your interested please get in touch and we can start planning your trip in Scotland.

The Lady of the Stream.

Every year I look forward to the cold of January! So I can get out to the river and try and catch these magnificent wild fish. The technique is simple stand in a river up to your waste in freezing cold water and dangle some flies very close to the bottom of the river bed and pray you get a bite.

Seriously cold this year with one trip at -10 degrees. It really was very difficult to even keep the rod rings from freezing! Not to mention me! January has been good on the river despite heavy rain, gale force wind and floods but that's what keeps it interesting. A few more pics below of my catches so far this year if you fancy Grayling fishing get in touch but be warned its not easy but is very rewarding.
