About Me
My name is Jonathan James, but everyone calls me JJ for short.
I started fishing for brown trout on the River Tees in Barnard Castle, Co. Durham when I was 7 years old and have been fishing ever since. My enthusiasm and passion for fishing is what I get up in the morning for, to put it simply I am addicted to fishing.
I am based in Edinburgh in the heart of Scotland. It is a prime location to reach many of Scotland's best fishing spots. Private estates, river beats and forgotten highland lochs are some of the main attractions. Fishing isn't always about catching the biggest or the most fish but embracing the natural surroundings, having fun and relaxing. Fly fishing in Scotland is a pleasure with all its natural beauty. There is a massive range of opportunity for the travelling angler with something for everyone.
Fly tying is something I have been doing for over 25 years and I still love creating patterns that fool fish. I am always looking to use new materials and techniques and the great thing about tying your own fly is the satisfaction of catching a fish on your own creation. Pike, Grayling and Trout flies, I attempt to tie them all. I am always looking to come up with that secret pattern that catches fish every time you tie it on. You can be sure all of my fly boxes are full and that hopefully I have something for every situation and condition.
I look forward to meeting you and providing you with a fishing experience you will never forget and hopefully give you the fishing bug.
